What are the main benefits you can expect

The main benefits of shockwave therapy are fast pain relief and improved mobility. As it does not involve surgery and there is no need for painkillers, it is an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and manage acute or chronic (long-term) pain conditions including tendon and muscle problems. What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), is a type of treatment used in orthopaedics, Osteopathy , physiotherapy, sports medicine. It is a non-invasive way of restarting the natural healing process. It does this by causing a short-term (acute) inflammatory response, much like the ‘normal’ process that happens after an injury. The treatment involves using a device to send shockwaves through your skin to influence the affected tissues beneath. The body responds by increasing the blood circulation to, and the metabolism in the affected area.

The initial consultation will confirm that ESWT is suitable for your injury. If you are happy to proceed the injured area will be treated with Shockwave. It will be combined with an optimal combination of soft tissue, joint articulation and manipulation and therapeutic exercises as appropriate depending on how acute your injury is.

I went to see Hugo a few weeks ago suffering with pain in my ankle and lower back. I was really worried about the long term impact of a very flat and rolling in foot. Hugo took time and care to listen to me and carefully establish what was ‘going on’. After explaining what the issues were and taking me through some simple exercises and advice, I went away and was amazed at the almost immediate relief and improvements. I've been to see Hugo a few times now and always the same result - relief! Hugo gets to the krux of the issue quickly without jargon or fuss and works at 'fixing' you - quick. I also like the fact that he also does not push for multiple sessions like some i have seen in the past rather allows you to see how you feel and judge for yourself if you need further treatment. Hugo was very helpful with regards to my sacro-illiac pain, it was excruciating when I first saw him but the gentle exercises and stretches he recommended all helped. He is knowledgeable, professional and gave very useful advice. His gentle, practical approach looking at the 'whole' person rather than just the injury also really helped at a time when the pain was debilitating. The rehab exercises he gave me, continue to help. Hugo is one of the best health professionals I have come across. Since he resolved my RSI, many years ago, he has been my first port of call for any type of pull or strain. He is very profession & personable and you can trust him to only recommend the right number of sessions…which don’t tend to be many with Hugo.I also choose to have a preventative check up twice a year. It is not the sort of thing I have ever done before but he’s so good I think it’s money well spent!

I went to see Hugo with a knee problem. In the initial consultation he was able to diagnose the specifics (a medial collateral ligament strain if you're interested). He was able to relax the problem with light massage and suggest corrective exercises going forward (which he explains extremely clearly and sends videos to ensure you know what you're doing). Despite the issue being a typically 6 - 8 week problem, Hugo asked me to visit just three times - each time building and developing the relevant exercises and offering ever greater clarity as to what was happening with the injury and in the knee, as well as massaging other areas that were tightening due to the knee issue. I was extremely satisfied with his excellent work and would hugely recommend the Osteopathy Partnership to anyone with any sort of problem which requires osteopathy treatment.

I went to see Hugo with acute back pain and sciatica which was seriously hindering an active lifestyle. Hugo helped explain what was happening and the reasons why it simple terms that I could easily understand and the recovery started almost immediately. Hugo is a great osteopath who has helped me and my wife with neck, back and knee pain over the last 5 years. Not only he knows the anatomy of human body well, but also he clearly explains to you what should be done at home to fix your problem.Even now, when we live far from Hugo's practice, we travel to see him whenever we have pain in our body as we are sure about the quality of the treatment.

I had suffered with lower back ache for a couple of years and seen a chiropractor, a sports masseuse and through the NHS had a back X-ray. Nothing seemed to help and I’d pretty much been told it was something, due to my age, that I’d have to learn to live with and manage.Not willing to accept that I sought a treatment with Hugo. In the initial consultation Hugo undertook a full body assessment which is when he noticed my right hip was very tight and suspected my lower back was taking over and doing the work the hip should be doing which was why it was getting over used and tired, tight and aching.In that first treatment he worked on my right leg and hip loosing it all off and gave me a set of exercises to do daily.From that day on my lower back ache has got better and better to the point that it’s pretty much gone.After just one treatment!We did have a follow up but just to make sure the hip stayed loose and I was doing the correct movements for the exercises I’d been given.Based on that I couldn’t recommend Hugo enough and hope others get to benefit from his insight as much as I have.

Prior to seeing Hugo, I've had no experience with osteopathic treatment. My introduction was excellent. I saw Hugo for problems I had with my lower back and neck/shoulder post an operation. The combination of massage and gentle adjustments worked like a charm. The pain was relieved and my general movements improved. I could run pain free for the first time in months. Hugo also provided exercises I could do to improve weak areas which improved my running form and meant I could go for longer without the pain I experienced before. Hugo is a great Osteopath and I couldn’t recommend him enough. During our first session he listened and assessed what my issues were, probably not dissimilar to many people who work from home, I was having terrible neck and back pain. He worked on some problem areas, ending the session with suggested exercises I could continue at home to ensure I was resolving the root cause of my issues. There was no pressure to book in ongoing sessions, we agreed to revisit after a couple of weeks should I feel the issue wasn’t resolved. After just one session I noticed a big difference, and I have only returned to keep me on track with resolving my issues. Thank you Hugo!

Hugo at the Osteopathy Partnership has been my osteopath for more than 5 years.I usually am problem free thanks to the home/office exercises he provides to help maintain mobility and prevent problems reoccurring.He is very knowledgeable and generous with his advice.
